My main objective here was to make the arrangement match the feel of the song. Some of Guinn's fans might be suprised by the heavyness and the diversity of the some of the arrangements. You'll notice that despite the density of some the arrangements you can always hear Guinn and his guitar at the center.

The Ride

This was the first recording done in the new studio, in fact 2 of the tracks were recorded and mixed at the old studio. It was a fun project to do for many reasons. Guinn has been a friend for several years and he has written some really great songs. The drummer and bass player were my old bandmates, so we locked into our groove pretty quickly. We rehearsed the songs as a band, then laid it all out a track at a time.

The result is a great storyteller's record, backed up by a strong real-band feel.
