This was truly a labor of love. It was also my first 5.1 mix. My goal was to make you feel like you were in the middle of the crowd. I learned that it is very challenging (but possible!) to mix acoustic music with only direct-input sources. Big thanks to Jon Cyphers for tracking the show. |

This live concert DVD gives you a front-row experience at Split Lip Rayfield's December '06 Cotillion show in Wichita, Kansas -- the last hometown show before SLR guitarist, co-founder and stage general Kirk Rundstrom lost his battle with cancer. The footage shows Kirk in remarkably ferocious form, but moreover highlights a road-seasoned band in peak form.
It is pointless to try to describe Split Lip Rayfield. If you've seen them live, no description is necessary; if you haven't seen them, no description is adequate. (Don't worry -- this DVD will explain everything.)
Kirk Rundstrom hammers his guitar, Wayne Gottstine shreds the mandolin, Eric Mardis maps new battlefields on the banjo and Jeff Eaton amazes with the Stitchgiver, his one-string gas tank bass. Everybody writes, and everybody sings. Put this DVD in the home stereo, sit down and crank it. You'll swear you're there.
